Free Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) Template

Schedule Every Task. Miss Nothing. Stay Audit-Ready.

Daily sanitation covers the line. The drains, overheads, coolers, and walls are where things slip, because they're cleaned weekly, monthly, or quarterly and easy to lose track of.

What is a Master Sanitation Schedule?

A Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) is the document that lists every cleaning task in a food facility that isn't part of daily sanitation. For each task it defines the frequency, method, chemicals, contact time, responsible role, and how the task is verified. GFSI-benchmarked schemes such as SQF, BRCGS, and FSSC 22000 expect one as part of a documented sanitation program.

What's included

  • A master task list organized by area and sanitation zone (Zone 1 to Zone 4)
  • Frequency, SSOP reference, chemical, concentration, contact time, and verification method for every task
  • Next due dates and Overdue, Due soon, or OK status calculated automatically
  • A Completion Log that pulls in task details by ID
  • A Summary tab showing overdue tasks by zone and workload by frequency
  • Twelve example tasks, from slicer teardowns to dock levelers

How to use it

Walk your facility zone by zone and list every task. Add the method and chemicals from your validated SSOPs, then enter the last completed date. Log each task as it's done, and review overdue and due-soon tasks at your weekly sanitation meeting.

Keep Every Corner of the Plant Food-Safe.

An estimated 48 million Americans get sick from foodborne illness each year (CDC).

Many contamination sources live outside the daily cleaning routine: drains, condensate, overhead structures, and hard-to-reach equipment. A Master Sanitation Schedule makes sure those areas get cleaned on time, every time.

A well-run MSS also gives auditors the evidence they ask for: a complete task list, clear frequencies, and records that prove the work was done.
