Know Who Can Run Every Job, on Every Shift.

One absence shouldn't shut down a line, but without a clear view of who's trained on what, gaps stay hidden until someone calls in sick.

What is a skills matrix?

A skills matrix is a grid that shows each employee's proficiency on each task or skill. It helps managers see coverage at a glance, spot gaps, and plan cross-training. It's also called a training matrix or competency matrix.

What's included

  • A 1 to 5 rating scale: No Knowledge, Beginner, Independent, Expert, Trainer
  • Room for 15 people and 12 skills per team, with color-coded ratings
  • Coverage counts by level for every skill
  • A Required row with automatic gap and status flags
  • A summary tab that rolls up gaps across teams
  • Level definitions so ratings stay consistent

How to use it

Name your skills, add your people, and rate each person from 1 to 5. Enter how many people need to be at level 3 or higher for each skill. Any skill that falls short flags automatically, so you know where to focus training.

Who it's for

Production managers, supervisors, and training coordinators planning shifts and cross-training.

Build a Team That Can Cover Any Gap.

Turnover, retirements, and new equipment constantly change who can do what on the floor.

A skills matrix keeps that picture current: where you're one person away from a gap, who's ready to step up, and who can train others.

It's the foundation of a skill development program, connecting training plans to the work that actually needs to get done.
